I may drive if The Notorious Jake can go with--depends on available vacation and stuff. If he can't go, I would drive myself, but he hates that idea. He just told me to increase my life insurance if I do that. So--to keep certain persons blood pressures down, if I go solo I will probably fly. Haven't worked out the itinerary (geez, Graywolf, you are ORGANIZED or something) but I'll just show up.

I wish I could do this , is there a linking book to Toronto? Can we hook up Yeesha to work on that?

The Notorious just found out he has the time off, and I made reservations yesterday. So we'll be there, by car, my favorite way to travel. I missed the edge disk fun in Philadelphia because I had to catch my flight out, and I hate flying anyway.

So we will definitely see y'all there.

heh, it's kind of ironic. i couldn't go last year because it was too far, and now i can't go, and the convention is right on my doorstep. god has a peculiar sense of humour.

I'm still not sure whether I'm coming or not, it depends on family things. My husband just told me that it's the weekend that he usually shuts down the plant (he owns a manufacturing company) for maintenance and we usually go to the shore then. I'm also not really thrilled about being out of the country with the latest terrorist threats being touted everywhere these days and being away from my family. We'll see.

Actually, there's now a distinct possibility that I may not be able to attend, either:

Travelling arrangments aren't going well...I can either have a 6hr car ride with a family friend, who'll only go to Toronto if some event or another is in town on the same weekend, or I can hop on a plane for about $260, and so far as I know I'd be travelling on my own. I'd rather not deal with customs, etc. all by my onesies, since I've never been out of the country before.

I still can't find a roommate (I don't bite, people!)...and while I could pay for a room by myself, that cuts into my savings, which are not only going towards Mysterium but towards things like college textbooks, which I am told are not cheap. And I don't want to add work into what is already shaping up to be a crazy freshman year, which means I'll be working off a rapidly depleting income for the first year with no way to supplement it. So while I can pay for a hotel room...I'd rather not, and save the money.

And on top of all that, it looks like I won't be finding a second job this summer, so $123 every two weeks is all I have as an income, and I'd like as much of that to go to college textbooks, etc. as possible. So even a $260 plane ticket is more than two paychecks down the drain...

TK! There is lots to do that weekend in Toronto. Jazz Festival, Blues Festival and Caribana are all that weekend. There are shows like Mama Mia and Lion King, there are museums, think NYC only smaller, friendlier, and people say "Eh?" a lot!

Let me know how I can help you out - the Customs here in London is pretty easy sailing and you could book the flight from Detroit to London which is probably cheaper too... then ride with the rest of the gang from our place to Toronto on Friday morning and back here Sunday night. Would that help you matey?

Well, erm, in the interest of saving gas, time, and parents' patience, I'm flying out of the Kalamazoo-Battle Creek airport (which is international, and only 15 minutes from my house)...so flying from there to London is more expensive than flying from there to Toronto, actually.

As for all that's going on in Toronto...yeah, I know, but it's some specific event or another he's looking for...and I haven't been able to look it up online yet, since it's a very long and complicated name and I have no idea how to pronounce it, much less spell it.

And TK, I’ve seen U.S./Canada customs, and they really aren’t bad--at least not in comparison to the U.S./Mexico customs my family went through.
