Mention of Something Else has been... quite lacking. Is it possible that, with the resurrection of Uru Live, Cyan has perhaps abandoned Something Else? Or what about that Something Other Than Something Else?

Admittedly there didn't use to be much information about Something Else even before the decision to raise Uru Live again.

And, in fact, when Cyan staff are interviewed nowadays, all questions are related to Uru Live rather than any other game. We should try to get some Something-Else-related questions in edgewise. :)

I do not believe Cyan currently has the resources.

But there have been references to Plasma version 2.5, which is beyond the version (2.0+ or 2.1) that's being used for Uru Live's revival. Grey Dragon has said he's seen 2.5 at work, so something's going on that isn't (apparently) Uru Live.

Let's hope it's Rubbergut 3-D ;)

Uru live is using Plasma 2.0 which Uru used before.
End of Ages and Crowthistle used 2.1
2.5 is being used by something else (un-named currently)

Last I heard all attention and resources were being focused on UruLive so I guess Latus is on the backburner.

I thought UrU Live was using the same engine as EoA or better? Why would they use the same engine as UrU, when it is already proved to not work efficiently enough. ;)

Perhaps it is not easy to port the various Ages of the original game and Uru Live Prologue to a newer version of Plasma? I'd imagine that the core concern of Cyan now is to implement new content, rather than advance the engine itself.

That said, it would certainly be good to upgrade the Plasma version somewhere along the line...

I disagree with this. Fixing the issue with the lag is by far more important than new content at the moment. This has been and still is the biggest complaint among players.

Well, for one, Plasma 2.1 has no networking capabilities.

Well, it probably does, they just weren't used. I could swear I ran across some network stuff while working on its file format, but I can't find it again.

EDIT: After searching the executable, there are definetly some network error strings. So the networking code was probably in there, just never used.
