Starting today, you can contribute towards the design fundraiser, using PayPal or a credit card, by going here. The minimum is to reach $200 (originally $100) by September 20, but I'm hoping for more.

As stated in the description:

Quote

Raise money to go towards the MYSTcommunity design contest. The winning design will be awarded receive the entire sum, split evenly if done by multiple people. Participate if you're a regular at MYSTcommunity and wish to see a significantly improved overall design, including replaced graphics, one or more color schemes for members to choose from, and optionally new or improved sets of emoticons.

There is no need or pressure to contribute at all, nor is there a need to contribute a lot; the minimum is set to $2, so even if you have just two dollars to spare, that will already make a difference.

Designers may start publishing drafts or mockups of their designs, as albino has already done. Once the fundraiser is over, we will give designers some more time to submit, and then start a vote for the winner.

I obviously have little experience with such a thing, so I'm probably just as unsure as many others as to how this will work out. Let's hope for the best!

can we send a cheque, or is cash better?

We're trying to work towards a solution for this. Unfortunately, this may take some planning.

I wouldn't advise sending cash in the mail. Money order or cheque is safest.

Because 70% of the original target were reached in less than a day (with over four weeks still ahead), I have doubled the target to $200, so we're at 35% now.

There used to be seven squees, and now there are only four. Three got away, and probably in peril in the great outdoors.

Be happy I didn't make a "cut-off squee" image depicting the 5%

Actually, I couldn't resist.

In addition to credit card payments through ChipIn/PayPal, you can also send a PayPal or Moneybookers payment (including direct debit and similar methods, where supported by PayPal or Moneybookers), or, in the US, send a check via snail mail.

For those three methods, please PM me.

There is a $25 difference between the amount of money reported by ChipIn and the one visible at the top of the board. I'm assuming that this difference is due to people submitting money without PayPal or credit cards?

SBS
