J'ohn,

Sorry but, I'm a bit confused. It looks as if you wrote your topic rather quickly and didn't have the opportunity to proof it. It doesn't read clearly. Though I think I understand, would you kindly clarify it for me

Thanks

Hmmm... I added a missing phrase, but I can understand how people might get confused if they are not "in the know"...

Cyan has declared that much of what we see in the series is artistic license, which means that the real events were substituted by a simpler version for the sake of compactness. Prominent examples are the Trap Book events; since Trap Books do not exist, the whole backstory of Myst (i.e. that the two brothers were trapped in two Books and pleaded with the Stranger to gather pages for them around the Ages) happened entirely differently.

We have also been told that the island of Myst, for example, is "actually" much larger and accommodated more buildings, living quarters, etcetera.

The focus of the challenge is to try and imagine the events and places which took place in the games without being restricted by the conventions of the games, such as puzzles, minimalistic buildings, etcetera.

Is it clear now?

Indeed it is much more clear. Maybe I was just being a fuddle-head but, the better description does help me a lot.

And thanks for placing this 'Post' in it's proper place.

The entry I have in the works right now is a rather violent account of how the Protectors of the Plot Continuum ended mangling of MREDURE by my own Gary Stu (Rheim son of Sirrus), and how The Stranger happened upon them on Plateau Island. Is that legit?

I said, he's a Gary Stu. The PPC go into fanfics that disregard canon. The Dept. of Mary Sues would feature in my story as they destroy the Gary Stu and canon snaps back into place. I'm looking to chronicle how they got rid of this Offspring!Stu.

Well, I hadn't thought of meta-meta-fiction, but sure, go along with it!
