In other words, do the symbols that the player draws need to be very accurate?

I've started exploring Taghira, and so far the two or three symbols I've drawn have been accepted. The screen grab here is the symbol I've drawn for the Keep.

If it's completely wrong, let me know! But I think I've got the general shape and proportion right.

I'm assuming that you are mentioning it because it didn't work.

The symbols you reproduce on the slates have to be pretty accurate, although the engine will interpret some incorrect symbols as being the same as some correct ones, sometimes advancing you in the game inappropriately.

Try to redraw your keep symbol with straighter horizontal lines and you should be good to go.

Also redraw it with the rectangles the same size. This is the drawing I've had the most trouble with; the first time I got it right but when I played again I fussed with it many times before having it accepted.

....and never, under any circumstances, draw a picture of PacMan.

Thank you both. Straightening up the symbol worked.

As you progress, though, some of what the game engine aceepts as accurate symbols does seem to be a bit hit and miss.

That's the same symbol that those darned Bahro kept misinterpreting... :twitch: Sorry, but Myst V left a bad taste in my mouth because of that.

By contrast, I've just been given a symbol that I'd seen but not drawn yet.

???

With a game engine as complex as this one there are bound to be hiccups, I guess.
