Hi there,

There's a topic on this board as well with the same problem, however, I'm not allowed to reply because it's too old.

Anyway. For people who haven't made the progress I've already made, I've spoilered this text.

I'm stuck in Edanna, on the part where I have to aim orchids. I'm pretty sure I know what I've got to do - aim the last orchid on the sunflower, then go back all the way to the lightsource-orchid and aim that one to the second orchid (instead of the first orchid which activates the leafbridge).

However, I seem to fail in aiming that last darn orchid to the sunflower! I really don't get it, on what part of the flower should I aim? It's really driving me crazy for a week now and walking all the way back is very, VERY frustrating.

Help would be highly appreciated :D

Aim for the lens (the part that you look through).

Believe me, I've tried. :D

I just don't understand why the game won't accept my aiming, no matter what I do.

Hopefully this doesn't give anything away, trying to be discreet with this:

How will you know when everything is aimed right? What is your confirmation?

Have you noticed there's an orchid you can't aim?

Yes.

There is no confirmation, because there is no light as you aim the last orchid to the sunflower. The confirmation that everything's aimed correctly would be the fact that the sunflower is activated and lights up the thing it's aimed at (no spoilers please, don't want to know what's going to happen).

What I'm doing is the following:

There is one orchid which has light from outside, the starting orchid. You can aim this one to two other orchids - one of them activates the leafbridge (done that, been there) and the other one (which cannot be aimed) is already aimed on the orchid near the sunflower.

I understand that I have to light up the leafbridge, cross it and walk further to the sunflower and his orchid (which, of course, has no light as you're there). This orchid needs to be aimed at the sunflower which is three feet away. After doing so, I need to go all the way back to the first orchid and aim that one on the orchid which cannot be moved. This way, the sunflower should get his light.

I'm pretty sure this should be the correct solution to this (not very hard to solve) puzzle.

However, it doesn't appear to be that easy, because the bloody sunflower won't get its light. The orchid next to it does, but my aiming seems to be wrong! I've tried over a million times, and I can't seem to get it right. A screenshot would be highly appreciated as well, unless of course I'm making a mistake somewhere.

Is the orchid by the sunflower aimed right at it? Do you have the orchid in the light aimed at the orchid that's aimed at the orchid aiming towards the sunflower? It's all in the aim. :D

No wonder Saavedro went mad - with puzzles like these, I'd go a little nutty, too. XD

Well, apparently the orchid by the sunflower is aimed wrong, as this orchid does light up as a result of the other two orchids involved. I just can't seem to aim this last orchid right to the sunflower. If someone could provide me a screenshot with the correct angle, that would be a lot of help!

Solved it! Darn it, I'm feeling really stupid right now.

What went wrong was that the electrical fish hadn't reached its final destiny yet. It was swimming around near Saavedro's painting and the bubble that bursts with fresh daylight is one floor below.

Sorry for taking all of your time! At least I can move on now with this brilliant game.

I was kind of wondering why our tips weren't helping, but glad to know you're back on track! Good luck!

That's okay. We've all felt that way while playing Myst...

And it's no trouble at all. Most of us here love to help people out.

Oh, and welcome to Mystcommunity. *throws welcoming tomato* :rotflol:

And thank you for spelling Saavedro's name right. :rotflol:

And yes, Exile is brilliant. :D
