Seriously? Goodness. They have no sense of humor. There went my hopes for a tap dancing Yeesha.

Mac OS X Preview works, but

(at least on PowerPC) you have to reverse the order of the 3 bytes in each pixel. And you should use the Mac version of the image so that the lines of pixels in the image are in the correct order.

It works perfectly with Preview (in 10.6) assuming you do the correct thing.

I suppose another (sort of) easter egg in Revelation is

that if you attempt to enter Riven's code (from RealMyst) into the crystal viewing machine, although you get no picture, you don't get the "incorrect code" beep, so that must be what Riven appears as. It's not much, but someone would have had to have programmed that in for it to work like that.

I've got a textfile, I've got the clues you mentioned but is it supposed to be nonsense again on the end? nonsense with some kind of system I mean. Like the same letter over and over again?

Yes. You've got it all right

Did you just use the whole picture (instead of just the bar of colors at the bottom)? I suspect that's what the nonsense is (the decorative present, which just has the same color over and over again).

Maybe if Cyan had made the game. It would have been a nice followup to the Ghen RIVEN egg.

Just to find out that there are Revelation eggs at this late date is well, quite a revelation, even if

the puzzle that led to them was more fun than the eggs themselves.

Thanks realXCV! I don't know how you came by this information but your puzzle was an interesting diversion and very welcome with so little happening the MYST universe lately.

realXCV, I'm glad you didn't design any of the Myst games, or we'd have a lot more of those "try to combine every one of your quadrillion inventory items with every other one of your quadrillion inventory items, until two of them stick", etc...

Thankfully, the Myst series instead concentrates on clever puzzles.

The level of difficulty wasn't what I was complaining about.

That the puzzle goes in the spirit of stubbornness, rather than cleverness.
