I can see the border of the red stripes is brown, and the border of the green stripe is... is that blue?

Yeah, but I originally just passed that off a creative license. :blinky:

hmm. Just some ideas

Maybe we need to use paint to open just a part of the picture in notepad. ( not the grey stuff the present stands on tough I tried that)
maybe we need to search for certain letters in notepad or replace some of them or so
I've no idea to be honest :blinky:

The photoshop thing didn't help by the way

Maybe we should...you know...try moving the slider? :|

But really, that thing is really difficult. Is there something hidden in the text? does the Atrus quote mean that the eggs has something to do with atrus/daytime tomahna? well I know it sounds stupid but realXCV said the instruction are in "plain text" :blinky: .

Difficult? I've seen fans solving puzzles more difficult than this one.

This.

What we need now is more people working on this.

Yeah, I noticed when I blew the picture up. Would this have something to do with one of Sirrus' marble lock puzzles? That's the only thing I can think of with colors besides the viewer.

There's a lot of different colors used - perhaps each one stands for a different letter? Perhaps someone could try to decode it letter by letter (by finding the most common and setting it to E and so on, adjusting as necessary)?
Here's a picture of the bottom portion cropped out (ignore the borders) and expanded.

(according to my count, the three main dark grey lines each extend 21 pixels if we read right-to-left from the top or left-to-right from the bottom). If these indicate divisions, they would divide the piece into 5 separate parts. Perhaps light grey is regular spacing (for words)?

Perhaps if we took the color lines cropped out and then opened that in notepad, we could quickly see the pattern of letters/colors?

On another bizarre theory, here's the notepad message in the forum D'ni script:

And third bizarre theory:

In that quote

Quote

Here. Most of what you'll need to know is in there. Keep it well hidden.

Atrus is talking about his journal in Riven. Could one of Atrus' journals (in Revelation he has three or four) have some hint (it would be in "plain text", and Notepad might actually come in handy there if the very_special_gift file isn't encrypted).

(Proof of solving: The 6th word of the plain text is "electricity")

I tried opening it in an image editor and eliminating various colors, looking for a message in the dots. No luck.

Notepad, you say? Will any text editor work? I have a Mac.

Yup

(edit: it's a guess, of course, but I am really convinced that it'll work)

Maybe the squares on the "floor" beneath the present or the letters from the notepad, and the grey lines covering some of the squares are the lines we should take (or otherwise ignore)?

But we had most of that figured out too. :blinky: Missed one small step. Paint can do many simple things we don't think of.

:gosh:

You don't need any knowledge of revelation to solve it.
