It turned out that the new miracle vaccine did, after all, create zombies, but they were philosophical zombies, not the shambling brain-eating type. So when the zombie outbreak began, no one noticed.

Eventually, there was no one to notice.

The End

Nice.

Also, a classic model of the 5 act dramatic structure, students.

Here is the exposition, where the author introduces the setting and plot of the story. With brilliant, although perhaps somewhat overly descriptive, phrasing, we are introduced to the antagonist - Miracle Vaccine - setting a morality tale of nature against technology (as represented by the vaccine).

...did...

The inciting moment! This change in the placid - normal - behavior of the exposition (where our setting is introduced without the movement of the plot among us) is sudden, providing an impetus for the coming storyline, especially the...

...after all, create zombies...

Rising Action! Here, the conflict begins and is developed. The mundanity of the exposition is broken entirely for the suspenceful motion and action of the plot of the story.

...but they were philosophical zombies, not the shambling brain-eating type..

The turning point - better known as the climax of the 5 act story. The tide has turned and the plot has been twisted. Here, the development of the traditional rising action of zombie infection is revealed to be a different kind than expected by our heroes.

Quote

So when the zombie outbreak began, no one noticed.

Falling action! The conflict (developed in the rising action as a zombie infection, and ramped up to a feverish pace in the dramatic climax) is resolved, and the victory of the vaccine against nature is finally in effect.

Eventually, there was no one to notice.

And we end with a denouement discussing, more at the pace of the exposition, the final results of this plot, after all the loose ends have been tied up.

Philosophical zombie, as an aid to the humor. (I almost wrote joke, but I want to sound more refined. This is art. :eyebrow: )
