Has anyone ever seen a bird you can make sing in Myst or Riven?

Rand said in a n old wired interview about Uru:

There's a fine line between making an interactive environment and making everything within it interactive. After Myst we got a lot of mail from people complaining about the red herrings. For instance, there's a bird that you can get to sing, but to no end. Not everything is meaningful.

I have seen a windup bird in mechanical, but in iphone (and i think realmyst) it doesnt sing and ends eventually. Does it keep going in the original?

I've seen the bird in Mechanical Age. I'm not sure if "sings" would be the best term, but it is definitely a windup bird that makes noise (and tilts its head around, iirc) for a bit after being wound up. I found it quite entertaining, along with the cobra-in-a-box (I don't think I mistook either at any time to be part of a puzzle, though). It, like all good windup toys, only sings for a short bit after being wound up. "to no end" is used to describe that there is no overarching purpose or result for playing with the windup bird - it's just a piece of environment.

Yeah, it's in Sirrus' room. It does nothing but move around while whirring a bit. Just like the cobra in the box in Achenar's room, it's a little doodad. I like to think the brothers had ADHD because of all those doodads...
