I'm a VERY new web page maker/forum graphic person type thing and recently made a page with a quick graphic on it to lead to my World of Warcraft guild forum. It's temporary so shush about the set up but for some reason, the couple of people who still actually use IE can't few it at ALL. Would anyone know why or a fix for that? I never use it so I don't have a clue.... :arianna:

http://leftovers.bahro.com/ is the page in case this helps.... and like I said, it's purely temporary. At some point it will have a little news feed and menu icons, etc on it and I DO want it to be viewable in most of the browsers.

Thanks! :rotflol:

Hmm. This is such a simple page that it should be easy to diagnose... on the other hand, that also makes it hard to imagine what IE's problem could be. Silly IE. :arianna:

For starters, you have a few missing tags, and some unclosed tags, which could be messing it up. Try this:

<html>
   <head>
	  <title>Exact Change Guild Forums</title>
   </head>
   <body bgcolor="#000000">
	  <center>
		 <a href="http://leftovers.bahro.com/Forum/phpBB3">
			<img src="http://leftovers.bahro.com/leftoversmain2.jpg" border="0">
		 </a>
	  </center>
   </body>
</html>

(I know it seems redundant to close things like <title> and <center>, but for whatever reason, the web standards people take it seriously.)

If that doesn't work, I would replace the formatting elements with CSS styles, like this:

<html>
   <head>
	  <style type="text/css">
		 body {background-color: #000000;}
		 .center {width: 660px; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;}
		 .graphic {border: 0px;}
	  </style>
	  <title>Exact Change Guild Forums</title>
   </head>
   <body>
	  <div class="center">
		 <a href="http://leftovers.bahro.com/Forum/phpBB3">
			<img class="graphic" src="http://leftovers.bahro.com/leftoversmain2.jpg">
		 </a>
	  </div>
   </body>
</html>

(Old tags like <center> and <font> are considered outdated now. They still work in most browsers, but they're frowned upon by the powers that be. CSS tends to be a more reliable - and just plain easier - way to specify the appearance of the page.)

Ahhhh you rock, thank you! That seems to have worked! I used the first version and tried it in IE8. :arianna:
