Seems Tycho is pretty excited about the idea too.

Haha, that Penny Arcade strip is hilarious. What's better yet is the blog post that accompanied it. :arianna:

Me reading this news: :arianna:

Let's hope it doesn't turn out like some other game/book based movies. Though, with the designers behind it, it doesn't seem to be headed that way. :rotflol:

Anyone been really following the production journal? This looks like it's actually going forward.

Also, they changed the site today. The blog is gone, replaced with a single image.

Looks like another puzzle to me.

Truly Mysterious. Is it a puzzle, or maybe an announcement? or both maybe?

I think it is that they are moving onto a new stage, and I reckon the studio doesn't like the idea of a blog during the production process potentially giving away secrets.

I'm guessing they moved to the next (or previous) stage in film development, and got a new website, so they're making us figure out what the URL is.

Not entirely sure where this kind of topic goes, so I put it here.

I'm assuming that everyone's familar with the current attempt by some guys to make a movie out of Myst-The Book of Ti'ana. But while I was going to check their usual site, I was met with a suprise!

The usual site's gone! And in its place is an odd message!

Can anyone tell me if they've moved to another website or something? Or did something happen in the development of the film?

Moved Andrew's post into the movie site discussion thread so as to avoid duplicate topics.

Dunno where exactly to post this, but I felt that it could fit here.

So I assume everyone's familar with the project to turn the Book of Ti'ana into a movie, right? Well, I just checked their website today, and I was suprised to see a major change. See for yourselves.

What's going on? Has something come up that I'm not aware of? Or has the site moved?

No one really knows what's going on, but there's been quite a bit of speculation. Some think that it's another puzzle, since it's been exactly 3 years since the first puzzles announcing the blog showed up. Others think that the site is either moving to a studio approved URL or that they're being forced to take it down for secrecy.

I'm just going to wait this out and see what happens. I'm sure we'll find out what's going on soon enough.

I am horribly curious. Having not been around when the original puzzles where solved can anyone tell me if the current riddle bears any similarities?

What was the last post from them?
And where do we go from here?

Guys, just a friendly reminder - PLEASE don't make duplicate topics of the Myst Movie website changes, it's annoying the Team Members and Admins.

This is... interesting. Hard to believe where this is going, isn't it? I think it's bigger than we think...

So, the site's back. And it's definitely got a puzzle.

Click to reveal hidden content
The site has undergone a subtle redesign. You'll notice that there is a small ink stain image on the right margin, just below the post content:

Posted Image

Clicking in this region brings up what appears to be a rotary dial (or, judging by the post content, a goggle lens) in D'ni numerals.

Posted Image

I've determined that after any 8 button presses, all of the buttons light up in red. So it seems likely that whatever code we're looking for is an eight-number sequence. (I tried the post date - 20110105 - but I couldn't make anything happen.)

Beyond the puzzle, there are a number of things to be excited about. The page header is no longer simply "Myst: The Motion Picture," but "Myst: The Book of Ti'ana", complete with a #17 logo, which may imply that the project has been officially titled. I also notice that the latest post is not by Adrian, Isaac or any individual, but simply "MFG," which hasn't been done before. All in all, it looks like they're really ramping up the professionalism of the site.

Now, I'm a Myst fan, so I know full well the danger of getting one's hopes up. But if this is what it looks like... :D

Updates as they come.

On MOUL forums they got slightly farther http://mystonline.com/forums/viewtopic.php...&highlight=

Summary :
It seems that once you crack the code there is a screen where you can give up a user name. It says "Toe kenem tagamij" which means something like "How are you known". There is also a screen saying "fah kat" which supposedly means "just one".

So what ever the code is it can only be cracked once, I guess.

The hotspots as known are:
- Ink spots under the blog text
- on the left side under the search box
- on the left side above "No unsolicited submissions"

Also while the main site is back the temporary one is still at www.mystmovie.com/index.html but they could just have forgotten it.

Any of the former posts new, removed, or otherwise possibly connected to the puzzle (then inserting that date could be the answer)?

Also, neat goggles. [/covet] Are they the actual same design as props before (hmm, they've been to Cyan before, so I guess they could have even gotten pictures there from the exact props)?

It seems that the puzzles once solved, show parts of a larger picture. A desk perhaps....Definitely a inkwell and a book, I think.

Books, I'd say. And something that looks crystalline. Maybe some rocks.

Looks like we still need to develop stuff more, though, as the pictures still seem incomplete there.

Oh, woe to those of us (myself included) who are too unobservant/lazy to solve these puzzles. :P

Well, there seem to be more puzzles, and they also show more names now.

Apparently all the puzzles have now been solved (I have no clue how), and the pictures are complete.

There's a new blog post on the site explaining everything. Now that I know how the puzzle worked, I feel really dumb.

I thought it kind of too much brute force though, and it was only solveable once which is kind of...I mean I never got the change to have a real go, because all the numbers were linked.

oh well
