Hello folks,

It's been a long while since I last posted here so I apologise if I've put this in the wrong place. So, the reason for my post - last year I completed my Masters in Secondary Education specialising in Visual Art. Before that I'd achieved a Bachelor degree in Fine Art and have done several years of non-University art training. During my Masters degree I had to build an educational resource around an artwork or body of work for one of my courses. It was the major assignment for that course so much effort and many hours went into it.

As you may have guessed from the fact I'm posting here, the artwork I based this around was Myst, and to a slightly lesser extent its sequels. And yes, I did use these forums as a resource :cheesy: The assignment required the resource to be electronic/ technology based so I built it using Blogger as I'm familiar with it and find it easy to use. Originally I was simply going to take the page down but rather I've decided I'll leave it up - for a while at least - for anyone who may to interested to use.

As mentioned this was for an art course so it focuses on art and how art is viewed/ taught in the NSW, Australia secondary curriculum. Still, folks teaching other subjects and in other countries will probably still find it useful. Even if you're not a teacher you might find some of the content interesting (at least I hope so  ). It's full of teacher and education speak, but hopefully it won't be too hard to understand for those who aren't familure with that metalanguage. I'm happy to explain any terms, however.

So please, if you're interested, head on over to the site and have a look. I'd be very interested to hear what people thing.

Cheers.

Very nice - a very useful resource, its good to see Myst related sites still going up (recent post on the Myst Museum springs to mind)

One minor comment if I may (and please don't take offence) - as a writer I often make mistakes and have to proof read things several times before I find all of the errors - carry out a proof read/spell check of the blog, there are a couple of minor errors there that if resolved would make it just perfect.

Great site, hope you leave it up for all to enjoy.

Thanks, Johnraka. Yeah, spelling isn't one of my strong points. I have gone through it several times but obviously missed things. If you can point out specific instances though I'll happily fix them.

Dougy, are you ok with me putting a link to this on my website?

Dougy! It's good to see you again.

Congratulations for earning your Masters degree! That's not easy.

The site is great.
Speling...spalling...ah, spelling.
Line 1: "Welcome to the Myst: A Learning Recourse website."

Is that right?
;)

Blimey!
I missed that - just goes to show you can never proof read too many times.

Hope you don't mind Dougy I was updating my links page tonight with a link to the Myst Museum so I put a link in to your site as well.

A'Reandal - hey mate. It's nice to be back. I do miss this place and ghost here from time to time seeing what's been posted and what discussions are going on. Really wish I could get into Uru Live (or whatever it's called now :cheesy: ) but it doesn't like my satellite connection. Thanks for pointing out the spelling error, I fixed it up. Thing is many of these assignments are done late at night....as you can probably tell. :rotflol:

Johnraka - that's totally cool. I'm happy for more people to have the chance to see ad hopefully use it.

Thanks for the interest in this, folks. I really appreciate it.

I'm thinking this thread should be in the Creativity Corner / Website/Forums Advertising forum.

Shall I move it?

I moved the thread but left a link to it in the other forum.

I PM'ed Johnraka to see if he minded if I looked at the site for small errors. We both agree the site is great and are just trying to help.

By the way, I am the worst speller in the world. Well, maybe the second worst. ;)

Home tab
The artistic view of Myst is one that had not been seen on such a scale in many games befor it.

History tab
The populariy of the series has lead to two remakes and severl sequles;
Riven: The Sequle to Myst (I had to look that one up)
Myst and its sequles have been ported...

I copied the text to my word processor and the spell checker exploded.
