My first meeting with Myst series starts many years ago, when I play in Myst III: Exile. Later I play in the first Myst and got many good impressions.

Now I looking information about first release versions of games in Myst series:

Myst
Riven: The Sequel to Myst
Myst Masterpiece Edition
realMYST
Myst III: Exile
Myst IV: Revelation
Myst V: End of Ages


Currently I collect information about first release version of the first game in series - Myst.
Known next:
Mobygames says what game released in 24 September 1993 on Windows 3.x and MAC.
In torrents avaliable later release version from March 1996, which have Windows 3.x version 1.1 and Windows 95 version 1.3.
Recently on the one torrent tracker was found two early versions - 1.0 from Februry 1994 and 1.0.1 from April 1994.

Version 1.0 was uloaded with scans and he have two interest moments:
CD have mark 1993, 1994.
Jewelcase have 1994 date, but Box back side have 1993 only.

Also I viewed Ebay and found Special Bundle Version of the game, but one owner say what is also later version from Jule-August 1994.
Another lots on Ebay can't be verified due to low-resolution photos.

I think, later versions and\or editions can be identified by the following features:
256 color requierement on CD. (not always - need see file and folders creation date)
1994, 1995, 1996, etc years on Box and jewelcase backs. Also can be on CD.
Text "Windows 95" on CD.


I will very glad for any information, photos, etc of the first release version of Myst.

I think I might have one of the original editions of Myst for the PC, but unfortunately I don't have it with me so I can't look at it or provide pictures. Are you collecting this info for a project?

The original Myst was released for the Mac, with the PC version not being released until 1994.

I have original first version releases of:
Riven (I'm not 100% sure this is truly the first version, it was bought in early 1998)
RealMYST
Myst IV
Myst V

Is there anything specific you need to know about one of these?

Also, you have any information from different magazines about games from october 1993 to march 1994? Its need for absolutely ascertaining the date of withdrawal Windows 3.x version of the game. I think, on mobygames.com do a mistake, but I dont know how to tell them about this and contact those who brought this information(Terok Nor(MAC version release), Barbarian_bros, joyvalley and Jeanne (Windows 3.x version release)).

Found clear evidence according to which Windows(MPC)(3.x) released in Februry 1994 (exact date - 25 Februry 1994) - here

Its strange, because now absolutely unclear how to mobygames have information about release in 24 September 1993.

Do you need to know everything and/or does it have to be in a specific format?

For RealMYST, most directories were created on August 30 and most files on September 26 or October 12 (all in 2000). Is this good enough?

CD\DVD Diagnostics simplifies the CD files and folders creation date verification. But he dont work in modern OS high Windows XP. I can help with, if it need.

But thanks for creation dates. Another found copies of RealMYST dated 27-28 October 2000, converges to the game release date in 14 November 2000 and FLT scene release in 17 November 2000.

If latest files in your version ended on 12 October 2000, it is very interesting because in later October version many files dated from 12-13 to 27-28 October 2000.

If it possible, could you make CD Image of your version in CloneCD(CCD/IMG/SUB) or MDF/MDS(Alcohol will be better)(Game have CD copy protection)? Links in PM only.

This is a 30 August version. Already found in CCD\IMG\SUB.

Sorry I can't help with MYST. All I have is a later version that works with Windows 95.
I also doubt my Riven version is the original as I bought it a year after it was released.

But I have original versions of Exile, Revelation, and End of Ages.

I bought these as soon as they were available in the store. I'm thinking they are the earliest releases.
