Strange eyes in the startup to Riven

Was watching a Riven walkthrough on YT today when I noticed something I have never seen before in all the years I have been playing Riven - a pair of eyes in the startup sequence as Atrus shows you the linking page.

Anybody else noticed this and if so, what is it's significance?

It is almost subliminal...

I think it's supposed to heighten the paranoia and remind you you're being watched. It might be supposed to be Gehn's eyes.

Yeh, it's kinda freaky, I guess I must have blinked at just the right moment which is why I noticed it, I have some video editing software so I'm going to try and look at it frame by frame just to see how freaky it really is.

Subliminal messaging from Cyan as long ago as 1997 - scary stuff... :scared:

Yes, I remember reading on this page that those are supposed to be Gehn's eyes. To be honest, I never noticed them when playing the game either.

I have just gone through the sequence where Atrus offers the Riven book and have counted 11 frames where these weird eyes appear every so often, they are subliminal and may be as Capella says meant to heighten the paranoia - at a subconcious level, now that IS scary...
