If my calculations are correct, today's the day... It's now been fifteen years since Riven was released!

How time flies. :D

We're an old fandom, but still here. 20th of the franchise is next year! It's an exciting set of times.

I never realized that Riven was that old of a game when I first started playing it (my dad had had a copy of it and I was something like 8 or 9). I loved it because it was such a real game. I felt like the items and characters in Riven really could exist.

I had pictures from Riven on my office wall a few years back - people were convinced it was a real place, some even said they felt sure they had been there!
A real testament to everybody who worked on it to make it as good as it is...

Absolutely. the only things I would change about it would most likely be:

  • The Soundtrack (I love the "Moiety Theme" and "Gehn's Theme" and the "Main Theme", but largely the music is the same. Maybe slight differentiation between islands?) The music all seems to have the same slow, mysterious theme (Which I like) but a majority of the songs (if not all) are in G Minor, and sometimes using the same instruments. However, I am amazed that Robyn Miller was able to compose such a fitting score.
  • Allow walking around in Age 233 (Maybe not confined to Gehn's office, but maybe one of those odd-shaped rock formations)
  • Allow more exploration in the village on Jungle Island (maybe allow going inside one of those daub huts?)
  • Like what I have seen others on this site want, to have more random "people" walking around (could be Rivenese)

I'd also like to say that I love the idea of a RealRiven, but I somehow don't see it being the same ONLY in the fact that John Keston did a TERRIFIC job playing Gehn (Couldn't have been done better) and the live-action shots would be hard to redo and/or intertwine with the advanced graphics.
