Another stretch goal revealed.

$1.7 million is a lot, but if everyone who's donated already increased their pledge by $30, we'd make it.

Note, however, that that article is over a year old. And at the time that was written (mid-2012) there had been *no* successful projects with a goal of a million dollars.

(There have been a few since then.)

So what and how much was the biggest? And have they all come to actual fruition?

I'm afraid I am maxed out already. Spent in anticipation of Christmas and birthday money. Sorry Johnraka, those mugs are going to have to wait a bit longer! Hope you don't mind

perhaps they can make it in such a way that they can make 'expansions' and come back to kickstarter for the funding.

I quite like this kickstarter thing, ideal for self publishing boardgames, its a shame that you only get a month to get the funding in. I know you can't keep it open forever but 3 months still sounds perfectly reasonable timeframe.

I can't remember the source, but I remember something about Cyan keeping a PayPal open after the end of the Kickstarter so people can keep donating if they wish. Or it was just an idea someone was floating around.

Surprisingly, data like "what is the Kickstarter with the largest budget that succeeded?" is kind of hard to find. Did find this article from Business Insider.

I'm sure the people who donated $10,000 could spare an extra $30. Or not, I don't know.

I was viewing Kickstarter on my phone when the counter read $1,095,xxx and it suddenly jumped to $1,100,xxx. I was in for quite a surprise when that happened but at least Obduction is funded.

Now let's see if the first stretch goal can be secured before we dream bigger. $1,7M seems hard though perhaps not impossible.

Paypal? I didn't know you could pledge with Paypal. I checked as I've got some money on their I wanted to use to pledge with, but it said it didn't accept Paypal and I had to go via amazon and credit card.

Now we hurry up annnnd WAIT for two years. I can do that. :)

I've got a feeling I'm repeating myself. ;) One game, two threads. :p

Well, congrats to everyone involved and a special thanks to all backers (except me because thanking myself would be weird and selfish  )

 Are we there yet?

Just get ready for two years of puzzles leading up to the release of the game. Participate! Cyan said a month ago, "The game has already stated." Or something like that.

So put on your thinking caps and enjoy the ride. This is going to be more fun than we've had in years (game wise.)

On a random, slightly off-topic note, I still think Aloys will be the first to fly on Obduction. ;)

Oh. Another random thought: When can we purchase the newest version of realMYST with the day/night cycles in Channelwood?

/end stream of consciousness :p

Have Cyan sent out the survey e mail yet for up to give our details and our add on requests? Just want to make sure I haven't missed it or messed things up? Thanks.

I think they're waiting until the end of the PayPal funding period (which is until February 28).

Success! Looks exciting, don't you think? I want more from the Myst universe, of course, but it's good that they are finally branching out a bit. :)

Apparently Obduction is the 44th most funded Kickstarter projects. Noice. :)

Also, does anyone have the final figure for Kickstarter+PayPal? I know the Kickstarter was $1.3 million, but how much was the PayPal amount? I recall something about the final coming to almost $1.4 million, but I can't seem to find the exact figure.

It's gorgeous looking. Some of those pictures were being modified in front of us at the showing!

Some fellow Mysterium attendees were expressing how they thought Cyan was dropping hints during their presentation that Obduction is supposed to take place in the Myst universe. I found the idea hilarious. We want another Myst game so bad! XP Whether that is or not, I'm excited.

Well given how weird the Myst universe can be I see no reason why Obduction couldn't be in it and yet have no connection with D'ni and linking!

However, I don't think that's the intention at this stage.

Speaking of which, the website has been updated and they now have staff bios and pictures. All the old farts (Tony Fryman, Rand Miller, and RAWA) are trying to hide behind plants. Go check it out. It's funny.

Such a pretty image! Reminds me a little bit of the art style in The Witness (which makes sense since Eric worked on that as well!)
