Hello all,

It's been over 4 years that we are running on the current server, hosted at hetzner. The server and hosting service has proven to be very reliable and professional. We've had an uptime of ~99.8%.

However, after 4 years, we need to do something. Harddrive failure are more likely with age (if they survived the first months), and 5 years is quite old. Furthermore, the RAM is short, to the extend that we're starting to "swap", which is a killer for performance.

Thus, I've decided that we need a new server. The new one costs the same as the old, but is really nice gear:

* CPU: 4-core, 3.40GHz, Intel Core i7-4770
* 32 GB RAM (!)
* 2x 2 TB harddrives, RAID1, Seagate Constellation

Connection:
* 1 GBit/s Ethernet, 200 MBit/s garanteed
* 20 TB traffic inclusive (no typo)
* IPv6

What does this mean for you?
* In the next days, the board might not be reachable for some time, or be read-only. Please be patient.
* After the migration, the board should be slightly faster

Thanks for your understanding,

Ben

Hey, just when I tried to upgrade the server, Cyan released a new game, so I had delayed the upgrade to not disrupt new discussions here. Then vacations etc..

I'll move the server now. If you see outages, that's normal.

The server has moved. Everything should work again.

If something is broken, please notify me or chucker.
