I'm unsure where to post about this but it has me concerned. Is is just me or is that the falling man from the MYST cover art on this shirt:

http://www.amazon.co...0?tag=tmcave-20

Are they allowed to use that? Or should it be reported? If so, then how?

Hmmm, looks very very close, not sure if it is the same one or not though...

Do these reference pictures help?

The only difference I see is rotating the one hand.

Ah, looking at this you are absolutely right, it is the same image - just inverted - well, that's a bit cheeky isn't it??

Not sure if it is copyrighted or not but if it is the best person to contact would be Tony Fryman at Cyan, if only to let him know the image is being used in this way.

Thinking about it the falling man is also used by the 'Falling Man Group' http://www.fallingmangroup.org/ and they state that the Falling Man logo is used with permission from Cyan so you may well want to contact Cyan about this.

This isn't the first time we've seen someone steal the MYST falling man. This t-shirt is almost an exact copy. There are very slight changes in the left arm and leg, but it's still blatant plagiarism. I flipped, rotated, and changed the colors of the t-shirt image and added the image Serrinatta posted.

Beware: Bad Photoshop skills below...

Unless, toning down my cynicism, the author put this in as a nod to MYST? I like that thought. :)

In any case, the t-shirt is a decent, albeit trite, joke. Just like the old one: You don't have to be able to outrun the bear chasing you, just the person you're with. um yeah. *ahem*

I would second talking to Tony. FMG is allowed to use it because we're one of the groups behind Mysterium and as such have the authorizations granted there.

So? Did anyone report this to Cyan? Or is the spirit of the holiday season holding you back? ;)

I did send a report in on 12/19, though I couldn't find a contact for Tony. I did, however, use the contact us email section here:
http://cyan.com/company/contact/

I have not heard back, so I can only hope it got to the right people?

It would have, they may answer you, they may not but if they have any concerns rest assured they will deal with it.
They sometimes take a while to answer emails... it was a couple of months before Tony came back to me to give me my licence to produce...
And now they are working on Obduction I suspect they will be even busier...

Did anything ever happen to that other shirt you mentioned? (The bear one with the same-ish joke)

I didn't see the joke on a shirt. It's just an old joke with many variations.

*Googles*

It seems someone named Jim Butcher has staked claim to the quote. But I've seen it other places and have heard the joke, and variations of it, more than a few times.
