Hi there folks.

Just upgraded to Win 10 (32 bit)

Myst masterpiece and Riven work fine.

Exile starts ok but all the animations are displayed in a choppy fashion

Revelation just makes Win 10 say that is incomparable with the operating system

Haven't tried Realmyst or Myst 5 or URU yet.

Anyone else have anything to report ?

Sorry to say, can't help. Haven't tried Windows 10 yet simply because I don't like the look of it, looks too much like Windows 8 with those horrible square icons on the start menu.

Odd that the Exile vids are choppy, not sure what Exile uses, is it QTime?

As for Revelation, you surprise me, I thought as it was one of the last out of the stable it would hold up pretty well, does Win 10 have a compatibility mode? If so, is it worth installing it under that then running it under that? (Apologies if you have done this already).
Sorry to say I don't know what else to suggest.

Kind regards

JD

I've now managed to get Revelation working !

I re-installed the game patches again over the top of my already up to date version and it worked !

The only think is that my NoCD patch doesn't seem to work so I need to keep CD2 in the drive.....but thats ok.

Exile is still choppy.........it's the in-game animations and the transitions from node to node that are choppy.

I remember there was an option at the install stage for OpenGL acceleration(hardware) or software acceleration.

Back in the day I would have selected OpenGL......does anyone know how to get back into this option screen again ?

I think that if I select software acceleration the choppy stuff might go away.

Any help would be appreciated

Ok then.....is it just me here ?

Nobody else having Myst issues on Windows 10 ? lol

My issue in Exile appears only to be with the transitions from one node to another.

When I click to move forwards.....the screen breaks up with jagged lines.....and then I'm in the next node.

The problem appears to be related to the fade in process from one node to another.

All the other animations run just fine.

I've switched off the fading transitions in the options menu so now I just snap from one node to another and there are no jagged line.

No doubt this will be a graphics driver issue of some sort.

Tried switching to Software graphic acceleration......and the game won't work at all.

I guess I can live with this....just glad the game is working !

......hello ?.......is anyone there ?

Yes, still here mate, like the Night watchman that never clocks off lol.

I think you are right in your assessment of the problem but I don 't honestly know what the solution is without upgrading to Windows 10 myself which I am reluctant to do.

Sorry I can't be of more help...

I've been following this thread but didn't respond as I had nothing to add. The only place I've touched Windows 10 is at work and I'm not going to install any games on a work computer. You never know who's watching. :um:

Please keep us posted with any further testing you've done. :)

Depending on what version you have, you might have to apply extra steps just to run under Win 10.

Exile on CD and Myst IV have data protection Windows ten will not allow. So after you install them and patch them up, you'll have to use a no-cd crack to get the game to run.

I haven't had any lag in my 10th Ann. Exile DVD, though.

Riven... I never got Riven to run. Tried the DVD and GOG, can't bother to try the 5-cd set.

I just used VirtualBox to run a XP machine and run it from there.

Virtual machines. That seems to be the best way to go if you have a modern computer.

I haven't tried it yet but I did add the Hyper-V feature to my Windows 10 Pro but still haven't used it to create a virtual machine.

I'll get back to you on this.

The main culprit for Riven is Quicktime. Even the gog version has issues, the movies playing off center and making interactions weird.

Best to stick to the 10th Ann. DVD and run it from XP.

I'd recommend SCUMMYM to anybody who's having problems with old Myst games, especially Myst and Riven. That being said, I have absolutely no idea how to get Riven running on SCUMMVM
