Hi everyone,

I normally work in wood (www.derekhugger.com), but I decided to do something a little bit different and make a rug. My Channelwood rug is 27" x 27" and is made with 22 colors, based off yarn available from MCG textiles. The image I used was 135 x 136 pixels, so the rug has 18,360 stitches in it. I'd love to hear your comments.

Wow, this looks really cool! Why did you decide to do a rug and why did you pick that location?

Wow this is what I call artwork, you are really patient!

also love your mechanical work from your website.

You will not find many people here, ever since Obduction this place is DEAD, it should be renamed MYSTGRAVEYARD...LoL

If ever you sell it some day, email me, I'll add it in my collection.

Capella and Rivendagger, thank you for the kind words! To answer your questions...

When I was a child, I worked on latch hook rugs with my grandmother. This was pretty much a nostalgia project. The location of the rug isn't its permanent home; that was just a good place to take a photo of it. In terms of selling it, in order to make it worth the ridiculous amount of time I put into it, I'd have to sell it for farm more than I'm sure anybody would be willing to pay ;)

I've got a second rug I'm working on now of Survey Island on Riven. I'm hoping to have that done in the next month or so. When I do, I'll post a few photos here.

I finally finished up the Survey Island rug (minus cleaning up the canvas around the outside). It measures 15" x 24" and uses 45 colors. Johnraka, between the two rugs, I spent about $150 on materials plus about 170-ish hours in time. If these are something you'd truly be interested in, I would certainly be open to a reasonable offer.

Give me a price for Survey Island one that includes material, your time and effort...

Don't forget the carriage to the UK as well
On second thoughts, give me a price for Survey Island and a price for both (presuming you would be willing to sell both).
Many thanks.

Those are fantastic! I suspect you might get rug commissions for awhile. Got plans to do any outside of those 2? Or has the itch been scratched?

I don't think I'll be doing any more of these. I've got a bunch of other projects keeping me busy ;)
