Hello all,
Not sure if this is common knowledge around these parts, but I just published a guide to running Riven inside ScummVM. These days it's running beautifully on macOS as well as Windows, and I'm assuming Linux as well. It also contains instructions for getting the Steam version to install and run on non-Windows platforms (I've heard the GOG version is better though, as is the DVD version.) It's one of my favorite games and I'm grateful to the ScummVM team for helping to preserve it for future generations.

Best,
Eliot

........"(I've heard the GOG version is better though, as is the DVD version)"

Is this the case ?

Is the GOG version the DVD version as I'd always thought the GOG and Steam were the old CD version.

Can anyone clear this up ?

I'm not sure as I only own the original Windows CD set, 10th Anniversary DVD, and the Steam version. Apparently there are actually two GOG versions (GOG Galaxy has a different version), you can read more on the myst subreddit.

Hmmmmm....this is interesting.

I'll need to look into this a bit further.

I've tried the CD version of the game with SCUMM but the loss of transitions and the lack of sound fades between locations made the game pretty awful.....the whole getting lost in the world feeling went away.

I'll check out the GOG Galaxy.

Thanks for this ! :)
