*Misses his old friends and reading on-line conversations among intelligent and fun-loving people.*

Unfortunately I never really found anywhere to replace MC. I post about D'ni on the Myst Online forums, but that's pretty much it. I shut down my Facebook long ago, and all I use my Twitter for is linking to story updates. *shakes fist at newfangled social media*

I can't really compare the 'book to MC. It was a way for me to connect with like-minded MYST fans when there were still MYST-y things going on in the world, whereas Facebook is a way for me to pretend I'm connected to people who don't reply to me... (seriously, why is it harder for me to get in contact with people now we're all so "connected" than it was when we only had letters and phone calls?)

Personally I use Discord but I do miss the old Myst forums.

...I miss most of the old regulars. My rants and politics have changed very little over time. The last few months I spent here were a bit of a blur, to be honest. Don't really remember all of it.

But it's nice that Cyan is still doing things. My main attention is on Starry Expanse.

...what's really sad is most of my old friends were on aim, yahoo, or msn... and all of them are probably lost forever.

So many things I would do if I could turn back time, change even the slightest thing. But then again, the ending has not yet been written.

Not sure how many of the old folks remember me. I don't go by this handle anymore. I've got steam, discord, and blizzard if wanted.

I don't use Facebook (except to very rarely admin one of the Mysterium group pages, since I'm committee.) My fandom engagements are primarily posts on Tumblr and Reddit, plus group chat on Discord.

...it's funny, in a way. Back over ten years ago, I just... kind of assumed that my online communities would be there, and now... I think only one or two of them have survived. Most are long since abandoned, if not simply deleted.

I've changed a lot in the past years. Yet still, I can boot up my Virtualbox, load up Riven, and marvel... the game that really shaped me more then any other.

heh. Haven't we all.

Let's see... About twenty years ago I decided to play Myst because I'd heard so much about it and the sequel, Riven, had already been released. I avoided playing Myst because it was supposed to be too difficult. What's the point in playing a GAME if it was hard to understand? Doesn't sound enjoyable to me... wait

I was one of those kids who went to the book store and spent my own money on books of puzzles, brain teasers, and the like. Myst could be enjoyable.

Aaaand I'm still here.

(Haven't used the Evil Mod smiley in a long time so thought I would.)

Just got back into Myst recently. Man, it's been a while since I've visited here. Just joined the Discord, hope there might be some discussion there

I've missed this place
