Welcome to the In-Character thread!
* To maximize immersion, there will be no Out-of-character talk here, beyond this post. Anything you wish to say OOC about anything in the game goes in the OOC thread. Any questions about the game? Ask them in the OOC thread.
* If it has to be attached to a specific IC post - include it here, but wrap it in Spoiler tags.
* Please disable your signature when posting IC. It helps separate your character from her/his player.
*Your first IC post should be a description of what your character was doing at the time when our adventure starts. Remember that your character had no prior knowledge that this is about to happen! Simply show a fragment of the character's day, then stop at any point you wish. The GMs will take you from there. :=D

Sylvia looked back again to see the others fall into procession behind them. Not much was said as they walked on, and Sylvia soon found herself clutching a stitch in her side, her heart rate going up. I hope this doesn’t go on for too long. I’m too out of shape for long strolls through the wilderness. She wiped a streak of sweat off of her forehead and readjusted the bag on her back. The straps were chafing against her shoulders uncomfortably. I’m pathetic. No one else is even breaking a sweat.

Sylvia looked back again when something dawned on her. Lunanne was stopped some way behind them, her eyes unseeing.

Disconcerted by the elf’s sudden stop, Sylvia looked away and began fiddling with her compass. Upon flipping it open, her face fell. It appeared broken, the arrow unmoving. She thumped it on the side, but only got a pain in her finger in response. She tilted the face of the compass and the arrow jumped wildly. “Huh,” she said out loud. “I’m not quite sure how to work a compass, but I’m pretty sure it isn’t supposed to do that.” She looked over at Erkos and tried to catch his eye. Maybe he would know how to fix it.

Sylvia looked up to see the younger boy edging up near her. I wish I remembered his name, she thought guiltily. “Say, did I tell…” he said but trailed off. Lunanne finally noticed that she was falling behind and leapt into the air and swooped over to catch up. As Sylvia ducked instinctively the boy rolled away suddenly into a bush. Sylvia looked surprised but shook it off when he moved on and fell into pace beside Lunanne. She straighted up herself and continued walking.

As they began moving again after the interrupting, Sylvia turned her focus back on the compass, tilting it at different angles as the arrow kept sweeping around. Holding the compass up in the air above her, nearly perpendicular from the ground, she finally got the arrow to settle. “There,” she said happily. “I wonder why it only works like this?” She tripped over her own feet and let the compass drop down back around her neck. “Looks like we’re going southeast.”

“If he ever did he forgot about it. But I shouldn’t have said that. We don’t talk about the betrayer,” Sylvia heard Lunanne say loudly in response to something the boy said. Sylvia saw Aalana shoot her a strange look and Sylvia in turn looked oddly at them both. The terrain, albeit smooth, demanded her attention again as they crossed a small stream and Sylvia let any thoughts of the dark pasts of the others pass from her minds and let the strangeness of her surroundings take over.
